RALLY FOR REASON II COME STAND WITH US!

We are taking it to them again. Join us on Monday, December 17 at 5pm, in front of the Courthouse. We "out of towner's" stood up at the last Rally, now Rushville residents, join us and represent! We are demanding shelter reform, that the inhumane euthanasia practices be stopped NOW!, that Jamie is given Justice! We want this rally to be much bigger than the last one.

With all due respect Rushville, I'm from Cincinnati, I was a member of the protest Tuesday.  BUT, I've also volunteered at your shelter for several years.  Personally adopted two of your dogs and one kitten who needed extensive medical care, paid vet bills for injured dogs that came into your shelter, paid for a dog mascot costume to march in your parade and help man the shelter booth at the fair two years ago.  I have bottle fed 9 of your unwanted puppies/kittens.  Have driven two hours to Rushville numerous times to pick up countless dogs/cats which were delivered into the hands of Rescues.  In the three years I've volunteered at your shelter there were NO Rushville volunteers  until this past summer, now we have ONE.  We stood out on the corner all day and it was only in the evening that local residents joined us in support of Jamie and change at the Rushville Shelter.  I think it's pretty sad when "outsiders" have to stand up for a town who won't stand up for itself!  Your shelter was so disgusting and heartbreaking I vowed to make a difference.  You drive by the shelter every day, your tax dollars support the shelter and you are unaffected.  Any of you who have visited the shelter will know what I mean.  Those "outside crazies" who protested are the same people who pulled dogs out of your shelter, they will be the same ones, on a moments notice, who would come help clean up and paint your shelter.  We want to see change, we don't want to see Jamie whom we know, respect and trust vilified for making the only decision a human with a beating heart could....save the dogs life.  Your elected officials could have used this story as a launching pad to make positive changes at the shelter, instead they've chosen to make this political, while the City of Rushville takes sides.  There are some things that can't be spelled out on a 20"x32" sign, you've missed the point entirely.  Please get beyond politics and name calling and address the issues at hand.
